Why Can't Cancer Be Fun?
Yeah. Why?
Hippos, Hyenas and Pets
From Zimbabwe, Firepussy's Harare Diary-- Earlier this month I went into the bush to a place called Mana Pools in northern Zimbabwe. Mana is one of the few game parks where you’re allowed to walk about on your own and take your chances amidst lion, elephant and such like. On the way there I heard that a woman had been killed by an elephant just near the campsite we’d be staying at. Just recently I was reading a Popular Magazine (ie Vanity Fair) article about Joan Root (the Kenyan conservationist) which stated that in Africa, Big Things happen, specifically mentioning bites by hippos, plane crashes and disastrous love affairs. I could mostly resonate. Especially on the hippo front. Some years ago, while canoeing the Zambezi River a hippo surfaced directly under my canoe launching everything, including me, sky high. Luckily everything, including me, came down straight which meant that we weren’t capsized, and left flailing in crocodile infested waters. And the hippo bobbed off, head sore most likely.
Anyway going camping near a recent elephant kill didn’t fill me with great joy but what the heck as my nephew would say. --

Explore concepts involving reality
"Iraq and other Arab and Islamic countries are suffering from awful censorship. These countries forbid expression and deny human rights in particular to women and minorities. The tied books express the suffering of those who have lost their rights because of religion and politics." Says Iraqi artist Mohammed Al Sadoun in al-Hayat.
And now for something completely different: the Anti-Astroturfing Campaign
I passed by Ladybird's blog today where i read about Astroturfing.Examples:
- Working Families voor Wal-Mart
- Grandma in Iraq
- Howard Kaloogian
But: Two Australian PR-professionals Paul Young and Trevor Cook started a campaign against virtual misleading:
